Description
This two-day course is targeted to doctoral researchers who are interested in the analysis of language, talk and multimodal interaction. In the course, the participants will learn the core concepts and terminology needed for analysing phonetics and prosody. They will also build their skills at ear-training and transcribing of phonetic and prosodic features of talk and language. They will also learn the basics of using Praat for phonetic analysis.The instructor in the course is Dr. Marina Cantarutti who is a Lecturer in Linguistics at the University of York. She is a conversation analyst and expert in the phonetic analysis of talk and language.
In addition to doctoral researchers based in Oulu, the course is open to PhD researchers who are interested in the analysis prosodic and phonetic features of talk. Priority is given to doctoral researchers in Oulu.
At least a basic understanding of the transcription and analysis of talk is recommended (e.g., familiarity with conversation analysis)
There is no participation fee. There are no grants or other forms of funding available for travel and accommodation. Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
