Lecture title: ‘“Carnal Lust”: the Archbishop, the Nun and the Wars (pun intended) in early 14th-century York’. This lecture will discuss the broader contexts of the pastoral reform programme of the archbishops of York in the mid-14th century, exploring the connections between their architectural patronage of York Minster, their reform of religious life and their rebuilding of the urban environment. The lecture will draw on a range of records from their administration which are part of the AHRC-funded project 'The Northern Way'.
