Co-motion workshop: driver workshop, older people

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventSeminar/workshop/course

Description

This one day event invites national, regional, York, Hexham and Leeds based professionals/stakeholders representing transport providers and transport planners; health professionals; planners and town centre managers to explore the implications of the increasing number of those aged 55 (+) who may be considering making new choices about personal mobility – taking more public transport, using taxis, using mobility scooters- or are managing their preferred choice - to drive - in new ways e.g. driving less far; not at night etc. Conversely some older people may be giving up driving unnecessarily with implications for their well-being and independence. Specifically the workshop will ask participants to explore these complex issues from three perspectives: Their own policy/practice area; the perspectives of other policy actors and from the point of view of the over 55 year olds. The narratives of the over 55 year olds will be presented as an animation that draws on anonymised extracts from the Co-Motion research to date.
