Description
Event detailsWonder how you can support those who may not be as confident as you are in using technology? Or do you want to talk about your own experiences and challenges with the Internet?
Then come along to this interactive drop-in event for people of all ages, which showcases the latest research on how people aged 65+ in the UK have been using the internet to search for information during the pandemic, and offers important insights into how we can better support people in the face of digital threats such as misinformation, scams and clickbaits.
Here’s what you can expect:
Chats with the researchers and event partner 100% Digital York about your recent experiences and challenges regarding Internet use, and about their experiences of conducting research with older people;
Hands-on activities focusing on the distinction between genuine and fake online reviews as well as fake news and the truth;
A video of how people aged 65+ use the Internet to look for information online;
A handout with the latest research findings on older people’s Internet use patterns including challenges and coping strategies.
The aim of this event is to bolster people’s internet literacy and, in particular, empower older people to use the Internet with greater confidence, also by showing those who interact with older people how they could support them.
Join us to discover how we can create more inclusive Internet communities.
