Description
'Food for Thought' at the Driffield Show
We ran a stand at the Driffield Show, and annual agricultural and rural craft show in East Yorkshire, which regularly draws 25 000 people. Around 100 members of the public (largely members of the local working rural communities with which academics do not regularly engage) cam to talk to us about our project, and its implications for understanding ethnicity, migration, and food as culture. We were there in associations with the York Archaeological Trust and their Historic England 'Food for Thought' project, which is building a heritage agenda for the Yorkshire Wolds, in consultation with local communities.
