Abstract: We study signature tensors of paths from an algebraic geometric viewpoint. Given a class of paths, the set of all signatures of paths in such class form an algebraic variety inside the space of tensors. These signature varieties can provide both new tools to investigate paths and new challenging questions about their behavior. As a guiding example, I'll consider the class of rough paths.
