Description
Housing First approaches are based on the concept that a homeless individual’s first and primary need is to obtain stable housing, and that other issues that may affect them can and should be addressed once housing is obtained. There is no requirement to demonstrate ‘housing readiness’ or to be abstinent from alcohol or other substances. This in contrast to ‘staircase’ or ‘pathway’ approaches, which predominate in many European countries including the UK. This event explores the use of Housing First as an alternative approach to tackling chronic/long term homelessness in the UKPeriod | 3 Mar 2014 |
