Higher Education After #MeToo: Staff and students’ perspectives on challenges in institutional responses to reports of gender-based violence and harassment

This research project, funded by the UK's Economic and Social Research Council, examines the challenges for higher education institutions in handling reports and disclosures of gender-based violence and harassment. It draws on data from interviews with 25 staff within UK higher educations involved in handling reports/disclosures, as well as interviews with 27 staff and students who were subjected to gender-based violence or harassment from other staff or students. The study focuses on institutional processes for handling formal and informal reports, analysing the strengths and challenges identified by interviewees and exploring next steps for tackling these.

This event will introduce key findings of the study and open up discussion with an expert panel on ways forward from these findings
