Description
An international workshop, organised by Professor Peter Stockley (Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology, University of Leeds) and Professor Reidun Twarock (Mathematics/Biology), is to be held at The Ron Cooke Hub, Heslington East, University of York, 18 - 22 August 2014; the 10th of a series that started in Oxford in 2004. The workshop will bring together modellers and experimentalists working in virology. Sessions are dedicated to virus structure, assembly and maturation, evolution and applications in nanotechnology and drug design. Keynote speakers include: Robin Bruinsma (UCLA, USA) Sarah Butcher (Helsinki, Finland) Paolo Cermelli (Torino, Italy) Bill Gelbart (UCLA, USA) Jack Johnson (Scripps La Jolla, USA) Cristian Micheletti (SISSA Trieste, Italy) Peter Prevelige (UAB, BSB, USA) Alan Rein (NIH, USA) Wouter Roos (VU Amsterdam, The Netherlands) David Rowlands (Leeds, UK) Alasdair Steven (NIH, USA) Roman Tuma (Leeds, UK) Roya Zandi (California, USA) Adam Zlotnick (Indiana, USA) Events include: An art exhibition by Dr Briony Thomas (Leeds School of Design) inspired by viral symmetry. Dr Thomas is currently on sabbatical in the York Centre for Complex Systems Analysis, The Ron Cooke Hub. 'Walk into a virus' 3Sixty presentation.
