Meeting with Catharine West MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases

Cismas and Trotter (York) and Ainsworth (Liverpool) presented noma, our respective work on noma, and requested support from the APPG with advocacy efforts to include this diseases on the WHO list of neglected tropical diseases. As a result of the meeting MP West "wrote to the Foreign Secretary to bring noma to the attention of the FCDO, highlighting important links between the disease and the UK Government’s priority of ending preventable deaths, particularly of young children." (APPG Report 20-21, p. 13)
