Description
Mental Health & Education took place on June 27th 2023 at the National STEM Centre, University of York. The event was funded by The Nurture Network (eNurture; Research Council Grant Ref: ES/S004467/1) and the Institute for Mental Health Research at York (IMRY).The event brought together over 100 professionals – including researchers, educators, and healthcare providers – united in their mission of improving mental health and wellbeing in schools. Attendees learned about cutting-edge research in this space, and developed future opportunities for collaborative working.
As part of the event, I shared insights from the "Connecting online mental services to schools (COMS)" project, which aimed to understand how and why adolescents seek information and support for their mental health, as well as the risks and opportunities associated with help-seeking online and in-school. The presentation ended with recommendations for school staff on how to improve support for pupils with mental health difficulties, in the digital age.
