Description
This hour-long illustrated lecture focuses on the seven sheet music titles included in the Newberry exhibit "Chicago, Europe, and the Great War," but ranges outwards to a discussion of music publishing in Chicago, changing musical styles, and the marketing and dissemination of music during the war years. William Brooks and Laurie Matheson, accompanied by Alison Hinderliter, also performed four of the songs discussed; others were illustrated by contemporaneous piano rolls and recordings.Period | 30 Oct 2014 |
