The journalist Cheryle McGregor draws on an article I co-authored (with Sue Wilkinson) in The Psychologist to say: “But, as psychologists Sue Wilkinson and Celia Kitzinger reported in the Journal of the British Psychological Association in 2005, gays want to marry not for the legal benefits, but for the equality and social approval of their relationship that a full-on wedding ceremony implies”. (Not quite an accurate report!)
