Description
Dr Mary Larkin from De Montfort University:
Dr Larkin is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Third Sector Research Centre, external consultant to the Finnish Caregivers Association, member of the Social Care for Excellence co-production network and Principal Investigator engaged on an externally funded study on the impact of personal budgets on carers and an ESRC Carers seminar series.
Every year SPRU organises and hosts two seminars exploring issues around carers and caring. The seminars are open to all and are also timed to follow on from a meeting of carers lead officers from Yorkshire and Humberside that we host here at SPRU. This timing ensures that the carers leads have the opportunity to hear the guest speakers discussing recent research or practitioners exploring topical practice issues. The carers lead officers can contribute to discussion alongside academics, local practitioners, carers and service users who are also invited to attend. This ensures an vibrant and interesting mix of viewpoints and opportunities for a cross-fertilisation of ideas.
