The ProBio Faraday partnership (http://www.pro-bio-faraday.com) was a UK government funded network of specialists in the Biocatalysis area from academe and industry. This represented a significant role within the discipline of Applied Biocatalysis in the UK. As Research Director he was responsible for: ProBio student CASE program (18 industry-sponsored PhD students in UK universities) including the administration of new calls for proposals, organisation of referees and supervision of awards through site visits and an annual researchers’ conference; Organisation of an annual international conference (in Manchester in Nov 2005); monthly collation and editing of literature for the ProBio ‘Biocatalysis Abstracts service’; close interaction with companies, academics and UK research councils involved in Biocatalysis; Chair of the ProBio Advisory Panel, consisting of top UK industrialists and academics in the area.
