Republic of Ireland primary school outreach activity in Sligo with RMS microscopes for schools

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventConference participation

Description

Demonstration of microscopes and the world you can see. We had classic hair, soil, bugs etc, but also used their own finger nails, nail varnish, bruises to really engage the primary school children in the microscopic world. We used the Royal Microscopical Society microscopes for school pre packed microscopes for this purpose with additional loaned microscopes form Carl Zeiss. We rotated the students through various stands with different sample types. This was a pre-conference event and we were invited to participate as the plenary speaker.
