The Law Commission published a consultation paper on the Protection of Official Data, with a particular focus on official secrets laws, and sought responses. This response from Prof Lorna Woods (Essex), Dr Lawrence McNamara (York) and Dr Judith Townend (Sussex) addressed a range of issues from the paper that related to freedom of speech and accountability.
