Responses to parental substance misuse by child protection services in England

Activity: Talk or presentationOral presentation

Description

The link between parental substance misuse and child protection concerns is well-established, however research on responses by child protection services to parental substance misuse is still in its infancy. This research, which formed part of the Hestia study, provides a picture of responses to parental substance misuse by four child protection services in England. The findings indicate that there may be an under-assessment of parental substance misuse by child protection services and a lack of provision of specialist support for parents experiencing drug and/or alcohol problems.
