Description
The IDN invited Paul Walton from the Department of Chemistry to talk about biofuels on June 12 2017. These fuels offer a means of sustainably converting biomass into liquid fuels so hold much promise for meeting the world's energy needs. This talk worked through the most recent developments in this area, including work from York in which a new means of degrading biomass with enzymes has been discovered. The talk also showed the impact of this work on biofuel generation in developing countries and seeked to discuss the social and economic aspects of this new technology.
