Description

Shared Movable Worlds is a collaboration between the Centre for Medieval Literature (SDU/York) and the David Collection (Copenhagen) that explores new ways of approaching literary histories of the premodern world through material culture. As the study of premodern literature takes a ‘global’ turn, this project seeks out a new methodology for exploring transregional histories of literature by centering objects alongside text in our critical enquiry in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, multilingual, and historically-focused way. This approach allows us to examine the deep and complex relationship between not only the literary and visual, but the oral and aural dimension of material culture that simultaneously opens up ways of exploring the movement of cultural forms across time and space.
