Description
Invited to be a member of the SPA's round table event on welfare-to-work policyThe SPA advances the role of social policy research within policymaking, practice and wider public debates. As part of this, we are organising a number of policy round table events to take place before and after the general election in May 2015. This series will cover a range of topics pertinent to policymakers, practitioners, academics and the general public. Senior civil servants, politicians, policymakers, and relevant select committee members will be invited along with social policy academics with a particular research specialism in the round table theme. A number of leading think tanks, practitioners and policy groups will also be invited. These delegates will be active contributors – their expertise will be drawn upon to answer specific streamed questions. These will be discussed in an open forum and the SPA will produce a short summary of each event to be published on our website. There have been a number of significant changes to welfare-to-work and activation policy Jobcentre-plus-since 2010. This event will draw on a range of social policy research to explore the impact of and lessons learnt from this development. Alongside academic experts and research groups, representatives from Citizens Advice, Policy in Practice, IPPR, Demos, and the New Economics Foundation will deliver policy briefings to answer the question: “Does Welfare Conditionality Work?”.
