Description

title of talk: Special guardianship: findings from research. Keynote. BAAF Conference To look at developing practice and research about the role of Special Guardianship in securing permanence for children and young people in Wales. Recent research findings evidence that Special Guardianship is increasingly providing a positive permanence outcome for children and young people in the UK. At present the overwhelming majority of these orders are made to family and friends carers, and bring associated benefits for the young people placed within these arrangements. Alongside these benefits are challenges for Local Authorities in terms of assessments, timescales and support requirements. This conference will look at research and practice from across Wales and England.
