Description
YorkTalks was launched in 2014 as the final event in the University’s 50th anniversary year long programme of reputation building events. For the third YorkTalks, the aim was to showcase the very best of the University’s research across the seven research themes in order to exemplify commitment to research excellence which forms a key component of the new University Strategy and the new Research Strategy. The YorkTalks audience is drawn from across the academic and non-academic disciplines in the University community as well as external stakeholders such as current and prospective donors, alumni, business and industrial contacts and partners, research partners, and the general public. The format of the event is very much styled to mimic Ted talks. Each session will last 90 minutes. Each speaker had just 15 mins to explain their research. This was followed by a chaired discussion including a Q&A with the audience. More than 100 people attended Tim Spiller's presentation on quantum communications and the work of the EPSRC QComm Hub and a number of questions were answered in the end. A video of the presentation is available on-line through this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtdQ_SyOQW0Period | 6 Jan 2016 |
