The Health Services Management Centre and Nuffield Trust jointly hosted two seminars on the limits of market-based reforms and the future of commissioning in health and social care. Current reforms are not new, and they are being echoed around the globe. They seek to further embed markets in health and social care, and hence the time is right to examine the limits of such reforms. The purpose of the day was to bring together leading academics from the field to discuss issues relating to market based reforms.
