The Working with emotions in volunteering toolkit: A reconnection opportunity

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventSeminar/workshop/course

Description

In October 2021, a free online toolkit ‘Working with Emotions in Volunteering’ was launched with the AVM which aims to help volunteer managers develop and practice skills around working with emotions effectively www.managingvolunteers.org .
Since then, there have been 500 downloads-you may have even used the toolkit yourself.
But we know how crazy life can be and as busy volunteer managers, we can sometimes find ourselves focusing on the mechanics or processes of volunteering and not giving enough thought to how we, and the people we lead and manage, are feeling.
So, in this online session, we give you an opportunity to reconnect with the ideas behind and the activities within the toolkit. It will offer space to reflect and to talk through the emotional aspects of your jobs-challenges, joys, frustrations, pleasures and how thinking about these things can help you in your daily working life.
The session will be hosted by Ruth Leonard, Chair of AVM, and will be run by the authors of the toolkit Anne-marie Greene (Uni of York) and Jenna Ward (Coventry Uni). We will also hear from Imogen Greatbatch (Deputy Director of Development – People & Head of Volunteering, England Netball), who has used the toolkit as part of a recent training initiative within her own organisation England Netball.
Join us on Thursday June 13th 2024 13:00-15:00 [Online Platform details]
