Traditional Grassroots Justice Mechanisms (TGJMs) and International Human Rights Law: a View from Colombia and Thinking Ahead

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventSeminar/workshop/course

Description

This workshop gathered research participants, partners and experts from Colombia, as well as academics and professionals from other settings to discuss the interim findings of the pilot project "Rethinking accountability from the bottom", situate them in the broader discussion about accountability for serious human rights violations in Colombia and beyond, and think about possible future research avenues and collaborations.
The workshop aimed to:
- Generate a space for discussion of the findings of this pilot project, listening directly from some research participants.
- Put the Colombian local context in conversation with the broader debates about accountability through mechanisms other than the ordinary (criminal) justice system.
- Identifying possible future research collaborations.
