Dissolved Organic Carbon in the sea surface microlayer and underlying water measured during an Atlantic transect (CONNECT)

Dataset

Description

Dissolved organic carbon were determined in sea-surface microlayer (SML) and underlying water samples collected as part of the SO287 CONNECT cruise between 12/12/2021 and 08/01/2022. Sea-surface microlayer samples were collected using a Garrett screen either off the side of the ship or from the ship's RIB Zodiac. Underlying water samples were collected from either directly from an underway pump deployed through the ship's moonpool or from the CTD. Samples were collected to investigate the role of DOC on air-sea exchange, and especially the impact on ozone deposition to the sea surface.
