Each file named S#rivalry.csv contains data for a single subject from the main experiment, completing 260 one-minute trials of a binocular rivalry study reported by Baker & Richard. The first column contains the time in ms from the start of the trial. Each subsequent block of 6 columns contains data relating to a single condition, with columns as follows:
· First two columns give the Michelson contrast of the stimulus in the left and right eyes on each frame of the experiment.
· Next two columns are the participant’s responses, indicating whether they saw the left tilted stimulus (third column, 1 means perceived, 0 means not perceived) and the right tilted stimulus (fourth column) for the first pass (p1) through the experiment
· Final two columns are the participant’s responses, indicating whether they saw the left tilted stimulus (fifth column, 1 means perceived, 0 means not perceived) and the right tilted stimulus (sixth column) for the second pass (p2) through the experiment
The first row of each column codes the condition (C#) and the repetition (R#). There were 26 distinct conditions, comprising different temporal frequencies and contrasts of the noise modulation, as follows:
C1 – The baseline condition, in which both stimuli had a fixed contrast of 50%.
C2 : C6 – noise contrasts of standard deviation 1, 2, 4, 8 & 16% at a peak modulation frequency of 1/16Hz
C7 : C11 – noise contrasts of standard deviation 1, 2, 4, 8 & 16% at a peak modulation frequency of 1/8Hz
C12 : C16 – noise contrasts of standard deviation 1, 2, 4, 8 & 16% at a peak modulation frequency of 1/4Hz
C17 : C21 – noise contrasts of standard deviation 1, 2, 4, 8 &; 16% at a peak modulation frequency of 1/2Hz
C22 : C26 – noise contrasts of standard deviation 1, 2, 4, 8 &; 16% at a peak modulation frequency of 1Hz
Data for the control experiment are in the files named S#control.csv, and are in the same format. The conditions are:
C1 : C5 – noise contrasts of standard deviation 1, 2, 4, 8 &; 16% at a peak modulation frequency of 1/8Hz, but with anticorrelated noise in the two eyes
C6 : C10 – noise contrasts of standard deviation 1, 2, 4, 8 &; 16% at a peak modulation frequency of 1/8Hz for monocular rivalry conditions, in which the stimuli were superimposed into a binocular plaid
