We are widely recognised as a leading department in the education field with a national and international reputation for the excellence of our degree programmes, research and curriculum development.

In the Government’s 2014 Research Excellence Framework exercise we were rated in the top ten of education departments for world leading 4 star research.  

Our research focuses on language education, science education, psychology in education, and education and social justice.  We also have strong links with the Institute for Effective Education and the National Science Learning Centre.
