Organisation profile

The Department of Theatre, Film, TV and Interactive Media (TFTI) admitted its first students in 2007 (under its former name of Department of Theatre, Film and Television). Three years later it moved into a £30 million state-of-the-art performance, production, research and teaching complex.

TFTI is an interdisciplinary enterprise, promoting dialogue and interaction between the fields of theatre, film, television and interactive media; embracing analytical/historical study and practical experiment and training; and encouraging a variety of arts & humanities, science and social science approaches to these media.

Central to the design of all of the department’s teaching programmes and research activities is a belief in the value of sustained dialogue and interaction with leading professional practitioners.
