My current research focuses on: inequalities in access to work-related training; active labour market policies for people claiming sickness/incapacity benefits; and the governance of activation. I am currently working on a study of the role and practice of health professionals delivering employability policies for people on incapacity benefit. I recently co-edited a Special Issue of ‘Policy Studies’ journal on services for people claiming incapacity benefit (Vol 31, No 2, 2010). I am also working with colleagues on research for the UK Commission for Employment and Skills on the barriers to training faced by lower skilled workers. I have published research on a number of other issues, including: helping ‘NEET’ young people; digital divide/inclusion policies; and social networks in job seeking.
