Research interests
My research interests include:
- British film and television fiction
- public service broadcasters (especially BBC and Channel 4)
- the UK and international film industries
- film distribution and exhibition
- cultural and institutional contexts of media convergence
- experimental film and video on British television
- biographical narrative on film and television
I am currently embarking on two new research projects. The first explores the history of biographical film and television in Britain, with particular focus on the output of the BBC. The second is an enquiry into the meaning and value of the term ‘cinematic’ in contemporary culture
