Biography

Jane’s role at CRD involves producing systematic reviews, rapid evidence syntheses, and other evidence output across of range of research topics in health and social care. Jane represents CRD on the Department of Health Science Committee for Public and Patient Involvement in Research. 

Before joining CRD, Jane worked on systematic reviews in the Cochrane Wounds Group (University of York, Department of Health Sciences).  She has a PhD in Health Sciences (University of York), which included a systematic review and looked at the effectiveness of workplace interventions to increase population levels of physical activity. 

Prior to Jane’s academic career, she gained qualifications in Business and Finance, and gathered several years experience in sales, marketing, and strategic planning in the UK manufacturing and financial services sector. She is a qualified exercise teacher, specialising in activities with elderly and special needs groups.  

Jane has served as a publicly-elected Governor at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2008.  In addition to her statutory duties as a Governor, Jane has been Chair of the Community and Membership Engagement Committee, and continues to be involved in projects to promote good patient experience at the hospital.  Jane was also previously a Director and Trustee of North Yorkshire and York Forum, which provides support to voluntary and community organisations across the region.
