Biography
Martin Smith is currently Head of Department of Politics. He was appointed as Anniversary Professor in 2012. Previously he was Professor of Politics at the University of Sheffield where he had been Head of Department between 2001 and 2005 and Faculty Director of Reseach between 2008 and 2012. He has published 14 books and over 100 articles and book chapters. His research has been funded by the ESRC, Nuffield and the EU. He was editor of the journal Political Studies between 2008 and 2011 and he currently serves on the ESRC Evaluation Committee. He was made a member of the Academy of Social Sciences in 2010.
