Algebraic Groups, Representation Theory, Geometric Invariant Theory, Random Walks on Rings
My main research focus is affine algebraic groups and their interaction with other mathematical structures. In particular, I am interested in Geometric Invariant Theory, Representation Theory and the theory of Spherical Buildings. I have done a lot of work using tools from all of these areas to investigate the subgroup structure of algebraic groups. More recently, I have also begun a systematic investigation of the representation theory of pseudo-reductive groups. I am also interested in studying random walks on algebraic structures.
