Research interests
My project focuses on research on enzyme-catalysed amide bond synthesis, specifically research into novel classes of amide bond forming enzymes for the synthesis of pharmaceutical amides in aqueous solution. We will employ synthetic organic chemistry, gene cloning, expression, mutation, directed evolution and analytical techniques to characterise novel enzyme activity and look to develop scaleable processes for enzyme-catalysed amide bond formation.
