PhD projects

Will welcomes enquiries from anybody considering postgraduate research on sensory history in general and on the cultural history of early modern - and particularly eighteenth-century - Britain.

In particular he welcomes enquiries from those interested in working on the early modern environmental, medical, emotions, or gender history; histories of soundscapes or smellscapes; the senses and embodiment more generally; histories of animals and more-than-human agency; sanitation, urban space, and public health; histories of science and technology (especially as they relate to the senses and embodiment); and histories of materiality. He also welcomes interdisciplinary supervision in the medical and environmental humanities, heritage and public history, or interdisciplinary sensory studies.
