Description

While a Teaching Fellow at Royal Holloway, I submitted a proposal to the Research Initiative Fund - RHUL Arts and Social Sciences 2013/14 and was awarded a sum of £424, which supported my research of plays and performances featuring robot characters and performers.

Key findings

My key finding was that the form and type of dramatic character trumps species affinity in the area of fostering audience empathy.

This research culminated in the output of my chapter '"Thinking Something Makes It So": Performing Robots, Mimesis, and the Importance of Character' in Twenty-First Century Drama: What Happens Now (Basingstoke: Palgrave, 2016).
