Description
To prevent and treat mental health problems effectively, researchers, health care professionals, patients and the broader population need to work together. At York, many researchers study mental health, across departments and from differing perspectives; but they could join together more. We work with organisations delivering mental health services, and those who can promote mental health in different ways (e.g. councils and schools). We would like to improve and broaden those links to create new local, regional, national and international partnerships and make sure these are developed and sustained over time. This will help to expand our research, and to develop and test ways of treating and preventing mental health problems outside our existing programmes. It will enable us to apply to a more diverse range of funding bodies, and crucially it will make sure that we do research that is of most value to patients, professionals and the population.
