Description
The University of York and its researchers understand that patient and public involvement (PPI) is essential as part of the process by which research is prioritised, designed, conducted and disseminated. Well- constructed public involvement and engagement in research is increasingly seen as a hallmark of excellence in research by funders. We wish to strengthen our capabilities in this area by creating a central resource within UoY, which will work in partnership with our local NHS partners and ultimately other community partners, to create the Patient and Public Involvement in Research Network at York (PIRN@York). PIRN@York will support skill building and best practice as well as coordinate practical solutions for public involvement and engagement across all departments and research entities that do research in the area of health and social care. The network builds on established groups in the University, York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust.
