Description
We are beta-testing the new Zeiss confocal microscope upgrade (FAST). This will then be given to the University free of charge post beta-test. This includes parts, PC and software upgrade worth £30k.
Layman's description
This upgrade will enable images to be acquired 4 x faster than currently possible. Critically this also makes the instrument more sensitive, which means less light damage to the samples. It builds on the Airyscan unit which was purchased as part of a University RPF. York will be the first in the UK to exploit this new capability with several groups already stacked in the waiting list.
