To understand the impact of gameplay time on people’s well-being, we need longitudinal, holistic studies tracking actual play time. In this project, we propose combining data logging from the PlayStation network with wellbeing surveys to provide the first study to date answering to these needs. For this, we have already developed and tested a data logging approach for the PlayStation network. Since console gamers mainly play all their games on one console, by sampling participants who play games exclusively on their PlayStation, we can capture an ecologically valid sample of the console gamer population that allows us to track playtime across all games they play.
