A project with Hedon church and the National Churches Trust to explore the potential of developing a bookable tourism offer with the church and town based on churches in South Holderness. This was a spin-off from the RPF project 'An Open Door? exploring the sustainability of parish churches' [PI Dr Kate Giles]
Layman's description
A short-term project to explore the practicalities and implications of developing a more professional and bookable church tourism offer to generate income.
Key findings
The model explored proved to be workable, with significant local lay interest and community support. The project is being further developed locally to a point where a bookable offer will be available via the NCT's 'Explore Churches/Experiences' website.
