Layman's description
Recent events in Mozambique provide an opportunity to understand multiple risks and vulnerabilities to extreme weather events and assess future planning approaches in the aftermath of Cyclone Idai. We propose to examine the ways that existing vulnerabilities to disasters are related to energy provision and use. Understanding how energy generation and use leads to vulnerability, in addition to understanding how energy is used to recover from extreme weather events, is critical to increasing future resilience. These funds will contribute to the development of a larger bid, to be submitted to the UKRI GCRF Collective Programme, in September 2019.
