Objective:
To adapt and optimise Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for the specific intricacies of medical imaging, thereby enhancing accuracy, reducing false positives, and aiding in quicker diagnostics in the medical field.

Background:
Medical imaging is a critical component of modern healthcare. While traditional image processing techniques have served the field for years, the rise of deep learning, specifically CNNs, has revolutionised the potential for advanced analysis of medical images. However, standard CNN architectures may not fully leverage the unique characteristics and challenges of medical images. Thus, there is a need to adapt and refine these networks specifically for this domain.

This PhD studentship is co-funded by The NHS AI Lab.
