Description
This application seeks support to organise two public talks at Barley Hall, a visitor attraction in central York, on the subject of staging the historical past in contemporary theatre. The first talk discusses some of the challenges of
working with theatre archives to understand the writing and staging of historical plays. The second talk analyses costume design in 21st century revivals of Shakespeare plays. The talks tie in with an exhibition of theatrical
costumes at Barley Hall. The researchers will use this opportunity to enhance their relationship with Barley Hall's parent organisation, and to connect with other current university projects on historical performance.
