Review of available evidence on prostitution in Leeds
Layman's description
Throughout 2013, agencies across Leeds developed a prostitution strategy for the city. Given that sex work is a highly stigmatised and hidden activity, developing a stronger evidence base from which to proceed was identified as a key priority. As part of this work funding was secured for an 8 week student internship and evidence on sex work activities and interventions in Leeds was reviewed. Working closely with partners at West Yorkshire Police, Leeds’ Anti-Social Behaviour Team and local sex work support project Genesis, a survey was undertaken with local agencies and available data was collated and analysed. A report was produced for the City Council’s leaders, which will be presented to Elected Members March 2014.
