Project Details

Description

This project explores the role of traditional grassroots justice mechanisms (TGJMs) within international human rights law (IHRL), challenging the narrow view of accountability as merely criminal prosecution and imprisonment. It is co-developed with a Nasa Indigenous community in Colombia and a Colombian prosecutor's office, which coordinates jurisdictional conflicts between ordinary and indigenous justice systems. It researches how the community deals with serious human rights violations through their TGJMs.
