Description

My Doctoral Thesis, ‘The love of my life’: Stories of sex ‘marriage’ in Iceland, explores the processes and implications of same sex partnership recognition in Iceland. As a mixed method study it involves census data, questionnaire data, document analysis and 18 semi-structured interviews with women who have ‘married’ and 14 professionals who took part in the legal process. The study documents the political campaigning for same sex ‘marriage’ in Iceland, explored personal motivations for marriage and how marital status affects everyday life of same sex couples.
