The West African Audio Network

Funded by a Partnership Development Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), the 'West African Audio Network' (WAAN) aims at developping solutions to the near absence of audio education and professional network resources in Bamako due to economic challenges since the 2012 political and security crisis in Mali. Our purpose is also to extend findings from the initial fieldwork study in Bamako to other capitals of West Africa, and so to contribute a comparative approach of digital studio practices within a non-Western context.
